Tips for how to stretch your Travel Money
Step 1: Research and plan before you go
It’s easy to create a robust budget that will cover you for the duration of your trip when you know yourself and what you want to spend money on. This is where testing comes in for pre-trips. Once you know your interests, you can set your budget.
To know what your travel options are, do your research ahead of time. A bus might take a little longer than a cab, but it's much cheaper. In various regions, costs may vary.
I don't spend a lot of money on hotels, tours, or even transportation when I travel. I find the cheapest accommodation around and wherever I can, I walk around.
Step 4: Create your ideal budget
For what you think travel will cost, create a budget. Write down all the things you want to do, where you want to do them, and how much they will cost. It will be necessary to account for your food, insurance, transportation, flights, lodging, booze, sports, and whatever else you think.
Step 5: Keep track of all your expenses
Finally, you need all of your expenditures to be registered. The people who have to go home early are always those who have no idea how much money they're spending on the road. You can see if you're on track or if you're overspending by tracking every expense from hostel dorms to that snack you purchased.
